Job Overview

\n

The Electrician works in stores assigned by the Divisional Facilities Manager, completing repairs, installations, and modifications on electrical switchgear, motors, emergency generators, control systems, HVAC, and related equipment in Macy’s stores. The Electrician executes designated preventive maintenance on electrical switchgear, motors, emergency generators, relay systems, and related equipment as directed.

What You Will Do

\n

\n
• Perform emergency repairs on electrical switchgear, motors, emergency generators, relay systems, energy management systems, and related equipment.
\n
• Maintain accurate computer-based records for all electrical switchgear, motors, emergency generators, relay systems, and energy management systems.
\n
• Submit work order completion, material requisitions, and equipment data documentation promptly using a computer-based system.
\n
• Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality. 
\n
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities. 
\n
• In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
\n

Skills You Will Need

\n

\n
• Technical Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical switchgear, motors, emergency generators, and related equipment in a commercial or industrial setting. Experience with energy management systems, VFDs, and HVAC controls is a plus.
\n
• Electrical Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Strong ability to read and interpret electrical ladder diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and specifications. Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for identifying and resolving electrical issues efficiently.
\n
• Safety & Compliance: Knowledge of electrical safety protocols and ability to work safely around customers and colleagues while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
\n
• Independence & Time Management: Self-starter with the ability to work independently without daily supervision, efficiently managing workload and meeting deadlines.
\n
• Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and share information with diverse teams, customers, and peers.
\n
• Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Resourceful and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities, troubleshooting issues proactively and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
\n
• Technical Documentation & Reporting: Ability to maintain accurate records using computer-based systems, including work orders, material requisitions, and equipment data documentation.
\n

Who You Are

• Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
\n
• This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands.
\n
• Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
\n
• May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
\n
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and during emergencies, based on department and company needs
\n
• Able to travel between stores 75% of the time and possess a valid driver’s license
\n
