Senior Fullstack Software Engineer

Experience: 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus Core Areas: Python, Django, PostgreSQL, AWS, REST APIs, distributed systems, TypeScript, React Compensation: $200,000–$230,000 per year plus equity Interview Travel: Candidates must be able to travel to San Francisco, New York, Chicago, or Austin for an onsite interview; required interview travel is paid About the Role This opportunity is for a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to design, build, and scale core financial and loyalty systems supporting high-volume transactions, payments, rewards, account services, and partner integrations. The role has a strong backend focus, with ownership of reliable, high-performance services and APIs while also contributing to end-to-end full-stack features. The position centers on Python backend development, ideally with Django, along with PostgreSQL, AWS, distributed systems, and high-availability production environments. Working knowledge of TypeScript and React is also important for collaborating with frontend and mobile engineers and contributing across the stack when needed. What You'll Do Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that support high-volume financial transactions and rewards workflows. Own feature delivery across core systems including payments, rewards, account services, and partner integrations. Contribute to system architecture and technical design as the platform evolves and scales. Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers to support end-to-end feature development when full-stack work is required. Improve backend reliability, performance, and observability through testing, monitoring, and strong code quality practices. Participate in sprint planning, technical reviews, and production support for mission-critical services. Contribute across the codebase when needed while maintaining strong ownership of backend projects from initial concept through production. Qualifications Required Experience 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus. Production experience building backend systems in Python, ideally using Django. Experience designing APIs, data models, and services using PostgreSQL and AWS. Experience working with distributed systems and high-availability production environments. Demonstrated ability to take backend projects from concept through production. Required Skills Strong backend engineering skills with the ability to design scalable, reliable, and high-performance services and APIs. Working knowledge of TypeScript and React with the ability to contribute to frontend development when needed. Ability to collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers on end-to-end feature development. Ability to contribute to system architecture and technical design for evolving production platforms. Strong understanding of testing, monitoring, observability, reliability, performance, and code quality practices for production systems. Ability to work effectively across payments, rewards, account services, and partner integration workflows. Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently move technical work from concept through production. Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
