About the Position

ABC Sheet Metal is hiring a hands-on Aerospace Quality Inspector to perform dimensional inspections of metal parts, use portable CMM arms, and prepare AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.

FARO, Hexagon, or ROMER arm experience is preferred. Candidates with manual CMM setup and inspection experience , as well as those with CMM setup and programming experience , are encouraged to apply and will be considered for training on our portable arms.

Your primary focus will be shop-floor inspection and accurate documentation, working with manufacturing and quality personnel to verify that parts meet drawing and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process, layout, first article, and final inspections of metal parts and assemblies.
• Use portable CMM arms for dimensional layouts, CAD-to-part comparisons, tooling and fixture checks, and inspection reporting.
• Prepare and review AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports, including Forms 1, 2, and 3 , ballooned drawings, and characteristic accountability reports.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, purchase orders, and applicable quality requirements.
• Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore and thread gauges, indicators, pin gauges, and surface plate equipment.
• Maintain inspection and traceability records, document nonconformances, and assist with NCRs, MRB activities, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions as needed.
• Prioritize inspection work and coordinate with machining, sheet metal, welding, engineering, and production personnel to resolve discrepancies.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on inspection experience in an AS9100 manufacturing environment.
• Experience inspecting metal parts.
• Strong blueprint reading, GD&T, and dimensional inspection skills, including work with tight-tolerance parts.
• Hands-on CMM experience through portable arm inspection, manual CMM setup and inspection, or CMM setup and programming.
• Experience preparing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
• Ability to work independently, communicate inspection findings clearly, and maintain accurate documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Sheet metal inspection experience.
• Verisurf software experience.
• Portable CMM programming or inspection-routine development.
• Experience inspecting weldments, fabricated assemblies, tooling, and fixtures.
