MEDICAL ASSISTANT MANAGER

Medical Assistant ManagerThe mission of Charles River Community Health (CRCH) is to partner with individuals and families to help them thrive and lead healthier lives by delivering comprehensive, integrated, and equitable primary care. The Medical Assistant Manager oversees Medical Assistants across both sites to ensure efficient clinical operations, smooth patient flow, and consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This role provides clinical leadership, directs training and development, manages staffing and scheduling, and ensures compliance with health regulations, safety standards, and internal policies. The Medical Assistant Manager partners with nursing and medical leadership to drive collaboration, professional growth, and cross-site consistency and collaboration.Oversee all Medical Assistants across both sites, ensuring smooth patient flow and daily clinical operations, including adequate day-to-day staffing patterns, which could include staffing schedule changes starting at 6:45AM each day clinic is in session.Demonstrate clinical leadership and serve as a resource to MAs.Serve as a back-up to support clinical operations and provide direct patient care when needed, including covering for staff absences.As RN, LPN or MA, be willing to take shifts with MAs and help room patients for providers.Act as a resource for team members regarding patient care needs, offering guidance and support to both clinical and administrative staff in an approachable and collaborative manner.Provide direction and support to MAs to maintain departmental effectiveness and efficiency.Delegate safely and effectively to support staff tasks that are within scope of practice.Mentor the MA team to provide culturally sensitive, patient-centered care of the highest quality to patients of all backgrounds and income levels.Ensure all new MAs and students are fully oriented on all aspects of medical assisting and laboratory procedures.Train MAs on the Vaccine for Children Program, including vaccine packaging and handling, storage, ordering, reporting to the state on vaccine loss, and emergency power outage procedures. Ensure new or replacement staff are trained and supervised in proper vaccine protocols.Educate and supervise the MA vaccine team on proper vaccine entry in the EHR.Partner with the Lead MA on scheduling to maintain coverage and operational efficiency.In collaboration with the Lead MA, manage room stocking to ensure adequate supplies and readiness.Plan and lead MA team meetings to promote communication, alignment, and accountability.Foster an environment that encourages cross-site collaboration and shared best practices.Interview MA candidates in collaboration with HR to support effective hiring decisions.Manage MA timecards and payroll, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations and internal policies.Lead performance management throughout the year, including coaching, professional discipline when necessary, and completing annual performance evaluations.Ensure compliance with health regulations, safety standards, and clinic protocols.Perform other duties as assigned or approved by the Director of Nursing or designee.Must have Massachusetts LPN or RN license or Educational Medical Assistant Certificate.Minimum 3 years of experience as a Licensed Nurse or Medical Assistant required.BLS or CPR certificate required.Must maintain current Medical Assistant certification to administer vaccines (i.e., CCMA, RMA).Previous management experience highly preferred.Bilingual (Spanish/English, Portuguese/English) preferred.Excellent communication and documentation skills required.Must have knowledge base including basic health teaching, family planning education, and how to care for common pediatric and adult illnesses.Must be willing to educate and mentor clinical support staff as needed.Must have basic computer skills preferred or willingness to develop these skills.Willingness to support training needs for students and internships as requested.Experience with telephone assessment and crisis management preferred.Must have a willingness to work flexible hours to meet the organization's needs/demands.Must be able to travel to either Charles River Community Health site (Brighton and Waltham) as needed.Must have excellent communication skills, particularly with people from diverse cultures, with the ability to understand the community, population, and patients we serve.Must believe in the work we do at CRCH, with a strong passion to serve underserved populations in diverse settings.Charles River Community Health's mission is to partner with individuals and families so they can thrive and lead healthier lives by delivering the comprehensive, integrated, and equitable primary healthcare that matters most to them.
