About the Position

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years of critical care experience required License: Active state RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI Must-Have: First-time travelers accepted with strong critical care experience and skills Previous charge experience preferred Experience with trauma level I and II preferred Description: The ICU Registered Nurse will provide care for critically ill patients. Daily patient census averages 8 with a patient ratio of 1:2, up to 3 with low acuity (rare). Candidates must be comfortable with floating within the specialty and assistive tasks as required. This position requires managing various critical care skills including ventilator management and titration of drips. Floating may occur within the specialty and lower acuity at sister facilities as needed. Nights and weekends are required as scheduled. Participation in holiday staffing is also required as assigned. Candidates must have strong skills in critical care interventions and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Compliance with all health protocols and procedures is essential. Candidates should possess experience in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and acute strokes. Skills in IV management, arterial line management, and care of patients with chronic/acute renal failure are essential. Understanding of infection prevention protocols will be critical in this role. Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in clinical judgment and decision-making in high-pressure situations. Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and team members are required. The ability to interpret dysrhythmias and perform phlebotomy tasks is essential. Caring for patients with complex medical needs will be a primary responsibility in this role.
