Chantal E.Stieber, Principal Investigator. SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety): The research assistants will performscientificexperiments to study C-F activationwithfirstrowtransition metalsand/ormake tutorial videos for advancedscientifictechniques. The researchassistants willuse organicandinorganicsynthetictechniques to make ligands and complexes.The students willcharacterizeligands and complexes usingtechniquessuch asNMR spectroscopy,IR spectroscopy, EPR,X-raycrystallography,andUV-visspectroscopy, for example.The studentswillalsosearchthe literature, write research reports,andcharacterizecomplexes.Proper laboratory safety training, documentation and presentationsarealso required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : CalPolyPomonastudentwithbackgroundingeneralchemistry(CHM1210orequivalent ).
