About the Role

The Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing manufacturing execution systems and related manufacturing applications to ensure reliable and efficient production operations.

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the availability, stability, and performance of production-critical manufacturing systems through proactive monitoring, technical troubleshooting, incident resolution, and continuous improvement.

The MES Engineer also participates in application development, system enhancements, database management, and integration activities to improve manufacturing processes, system functionality, and operational efficiency.

This position works closely with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, IT, OT, application developers, and other technical support teams to resolve production issues, implement system improvements, and support evolving business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

MES Operations & Production Support

• Provide technical support for production-critical Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and related applications, ensuring system availability, reliability, and minimal production disruptions.
• Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application, database, integration, and system-related issues impacting manufacturing operations.
• Perform root cause analysis of recurring issues and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve system stability and performance.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, IT/OT, and external support teams to troubleshoot complex issues and coordinate resolution.
• Document production incidents, troubleshooting activities, corrective actions, and relevant shift handoff information.
• Provide off-hours and on-call support as required, including coverage of other shifts, planned maintenance, and production downtime events.

Application Development & Continuous Improvement

• Analyze manufacturing processes, application functionality, and business requirements to identify opportunities for system improvements and automation.
• Configure, test, and implement MES application enhancements, including troubleshooting application logic, configurations, scripts, and workflows.
• Collaborate with developers, engineers, and business stakeholders on application enhancements, system upgrades, and technical projects.
• Support application testing, deployment, and change management processes to ensure reliable implementation of system modifications.

Database Management & Systems Integration

• Develop and execute SQL queries to support production troubleshooting, data analysis, reporting, and application functionality.
• Troubleshoot database issues and perform authorized data modifications within Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments while maintaining data integrity and following change control procedures.
• Support and troubleshoot integrations between MES, ERP, manufacturing equipment, databases, and other business applications.
• Collaborate with IT/OT infrastructure teams and external technical resources to resolve database, server, network, and system connectivity issues.

Documentation, Communication & Technical Development

• Maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and system support information while communicating issues and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, end-user support, and training related to MES functionality and system changes.
• Follow established incident management and change control procedures while participating in continuous improvement and professional development initiatives.

Requirements

This position will involve design, configuration, and troubleshooting in a variety of technologies and services, including but not limited to the following.

Occasional domestic and international travel required.
