The QA Tester is responsible for validating that software applications function as designed and meet business, technical, and user expectations before deployment. This role serves as a key contributor to software quality by performing structured and exploratory testing, identifying defects, verifying fixes, and ensuring a positive user experience across enterprise applications.

Working as part of an Agile development team, the QA Tester collaborates closely with software developers, business analysts, product owners, scrum teams, and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle. The role combines analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure applications meet functional requirements and quality standards.

The position focuses on manual testing execution, defect management, integration testing, acceptance testing, and quality validation activities across multiple enterprise platforms. The QA Tester plays an important role in helping teams deliver reliable, stable, and user-friendly software while promoting quality throughout the development process.

Operating with a high degree of accountability and ownership, the QA Tester serves as a quality advocate, helping identify risks early, improve testing processes, and support the successful delivery of business-critical technology solutions.

Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, requirements reviews, design discussions, and product demonstrations to provide quality-focused input.
• Analyze business requirements, user stories, and use cases to develop comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and supporting test data.
• Perform manual testing activities, including smoke testing, regression testing, exploratory testing, usability testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, and cross-platform validation.
• Execute test cases and document testing results, outcomes, and observations in accordance with established quality assurance processes.
• Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects while providing clear evidence, detailed reproduction steps, and impact assessments.
• Verify defect resolutions and perform retesting activities to confirm successful implementation of fixes.
• Communicate testing progress, quality metrics, risks, and release readiness to scrum teams and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other product and technology teams to support system integration testing and ensure end-to-end functionality across platforms.
• Perform issue triage activities, analyze application behavior, and support rapid identification and resolution of production and pre-production issues.
• Coordinate and execute regression testing efforts associated with quarterly application releases and major system enhancements.
• Develop and maintain testing dashboards, reports, and coverage metrics to support project visibility and quality tracking.
• Partner with test automation resources to identify manual test scenarios appropriate for automation and support expansion of automated regression testing coverage.
• Review automated testing results and assist with analysis of failures, defects, and testing trends.
• Coordinate production verification activities and support deployment validation efforts.
• Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to support testing signoffs and successful software releases.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on testing methodologies, quality standards, and software delivery practices.

This role requires a combination of software testing expertise, analytical thinking, collaboration, and attention to detail, including:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, or software development within a business application environment.
• Experience designing and executing test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on functional requirements and user stories.
• Experience performing system testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, regression testing, and user-focused quality validation activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile development practices.
• Experience documenting, tracking, and managing software defects through the complete defect lifecycle.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor while collaborating with cross-functional technology and business teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
• Customer-focused mindset with a passion for improving software quality and user satisfaction.

Preferred:

• Experience supporting financial services, banking, accounting, lending, or other highly regulated business environments.
• Experience serving as a quality assurance representative within Agile or Scrum-based delivery teams.
• Experience with test management platforms, defect tracking systems, and quality reporting tools.
• Experience coordinating enterprise-wide regression testing efforts across multiple applications and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with automated testing processes and test automation frameworks.
• Experience supporting cloud-based, web-based, or enterprise business applications.
• Experience serving as a subject matter expert for application testing, quality processes, or enterprise systems.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of software quality assurance methodologies, testing processes, and quality best practices.
• Knowledge of functional, integration, regression, exploratory, usability, and acceptance testing techniques.
• Ability to analyze requirements and develop comprehensive testing strategies.
• Experience troubleshooting software issues and validating solutions across multiple environments.
• Familiarity with API testing tools, database validation techniques, and test management platforms.
• Basic scripting and technical troubleshooting capabilities, including familiarity with JavaScript, SQL, and related technologies.
• Understanding of HTML, CSS, selectors, and web application functionality.
• Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed testing documentation and records.
