Instrumentation Technician

Position Title INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROLS TECHNICIAN Location Plant Definition Perform routine to skilled level installation, upgrade, maintenance, and troubleshooting of process control devices, logic control systems, motor drive systems, dosing pump systems, valve actuation controls, and electrical at on-site and remote locations. This will include installing/bending conduit, pulling wires and cables, and terminating wires. Other duties as assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Manager of Process Control Department. Work rotating holiday on-call schedule and occasional overtime or after-hours when needed. Required Knowledge and Skills PLCs Variable Speed Drives, AC and DC Motors and Motor Control Systems Control Panel Wiring Electric Valve Actuators Electrical Power Equipment Multimeter Voltages 24Vdc to 480Vac, 3ph Install electrical wiring and devices, bend and install conduit, wire control systems, per NFPA70 as required. Performs installation, configuration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration procedures safely and professionally with minimal supervision on all process control systems. This will include work on plant electrical systems, as needed. Work inside live control panels safely. Solve PLC, valve actuator, AC/DC speed control, pressure and flow devices, and general motor and pump control problems. Read and interpret wiring schematics, control logic diagrams, mechanical and engineering drawings, and project specifications. Attend any training planned and scheduled by the Process Control Chief. Minimum Education and Experience Required Successful candidate would be expected to show competencies in relevant technical tasks pertaining to wiring termination or other skills as determined by department staff. 5+ years of industrial or systems integrator work experience. Other Qualifications and Requirements Valid Virginia Driver’s License. Practical use of industry standards for electrical and mechanical methods and practices. Physical ability to be occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk on uneven and/or slippery surfaces, climb ladders, and enter designated Confined Spaces. Be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must have sense perception such as hearing, visual acuity, vision, etc. Company Description The Appomattox River Water Authority provides safe, clean water to five member localities: Chesterfield County, Dinwiddie County, Prince George County, City of Colonial Heights, City of Petersburg, from facilities located next to the Brasfield Dam, at Chesdin Reservoir, in south-central Virginia. #J-18808-Ljbffr
