Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed. They evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans while explaining procedures to patients and offering education upon discharge. The therapist conducts physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory and aerosol devices to administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation. They perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, and assist with invasive procedures related to respiratory care. Additional responsibilities include performing 12-Lead EKGs, monitoring patient responses, maintaining accurate records, and communicating with medical staff regarding therapy efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient conditions and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Administer routine treatments using various respiratory equipment.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and promote secretion clearance.
• Conduct suctioning and monitoring per established policies.
• Assist in invasive respiratory procedures such as bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Record treatment-related information and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
• Ensure compliance with policies for laboratory testing and quality control.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Experience in a clinical setting performing respiratory therapy tasks.
