Our organization’s Division of Hospital Medicine comprises a dedicated team of over 77 physicians and 29 advanced practitioners focused on delivering exceptional patient care. As a tertiary care academic medical center, we cater to a diverse patient population, including those with complex medical needs. We are also deeply committed to medical education, hosting numerous trainees throughout the year.

• Schedule: A 7 on, 7 off block schedule.

• Code Response: Nocturnists are not responsible for responding to codes ; this is managed by the ICU team.

• Rapid Response: Nocturnists currently lead Rapid Response efforts alongside residents.

• Admissions: Overnight Internal Medicine admissions are primarily managed by residents, with 4-6 cases overseen by a Nocturnist.

• Patient Care: Deliver direct patient care and supervise Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) for admissions and cross-coverage.

• Work Environment: Our division fosters a collegial atmosphere that values and acknowledges the contributions of all providers.

• Education: Candidates must possess strong academic credentials, including Residency Training in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

• After 1 year: Reduction of 1 shift per month for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE).

• After 3 years: Additional shift reduction for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE).

We are excited to share several innovative programs and initiatives, including:

• Collaborative Unit-Based Care: A model featuring approximately 85% geographic cohorting and daily multidisciplinary rounds across all sites.

• Co-Management Services:

  • Orthopedic Surgery at our facility

  • Hematology at our facility

• Inpatient Teaching:

  • Rounds with Internal Medicine residents and medical students from UMass Chan.

  • Junior Hospitalist rotation for new PGY2 Internal Medicine residents every July and August.

  • Medicine rotation for international medical students at our facility (approximately 25 students annually).

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between $165,000.00 USD and $180,000.00 USD. This range reflects the annual base salary that the organization reasonably anticipates paying for this role at this time. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, training, relevant experience, specialty, work location, productivity, job responsibilities, and other legally permissible factors. Additionally, this position may qualify for performance-based incentives, including productivity and quality bonuses.
