Shift: Daylight (Monday through Friday, standard business hours)
Work Arrangement: Remote within 50 miles of Pittsburgh, PA (Work-from-home, with occasional in-person work in Pittsburgh, PA)

New Hire Starting Salary Range: $34.98 – $47.75 per hour base wage (After hire, pay increases can be earned, see below).
About the Opportunity
This is a permanent, full-time career opportunity for an experienced medical coding leader to join a premier corporate revenue cycle department. If selected, you will be hired directly as a regular employee of the organization we represent, placing you on their payroll and making you eligible for full corporate benefits from day one. This is not a temporary or contract assignment. This position offers the flexibility of working from home with occasional, periodic in-person meetings at our corporate offices in Pittsburgh.
Purpose
The Manager, Coding is a mid-level leadership position responsible for overseeing day-to-day inpatient and outpatient coding operations, rate inquiries, and correct coding initiatives that directly impact reimbursement, fee schedules, and claims payment. A critical focus of this leadership role is the onboarding, training, and continuous professional development of new hires, as well as managing provider practice and hospital relationships to ensure high-quality, compliant coding outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Onboarding: Directs the successful onboarding, training, and ongoing education of all new coding hires and operations staff; coordinates educational sessions to maintain strict accuracy standards.
- Coding Claims Resolution: Oversees the detailed review, analysis, and resolution of complex claims issues to ensure compliance with national correct coding initiatives and guidelines.
- Client & Provider Relationship Management: Acts as the primary point of contact for provider practices and hospital leadership; sets clear service expectations, communicates project statuses, and conducts regular client satisfaction assessments.
- Project Implementation & Delivery: Facilitates coding project implementations from initial pre-production planning and ramp-up stages through to full, sustained production.
- Fee Schedule & Rate Research: Ensures the timely completion of complex inquiries regarding fee schedules, capitation, and reimbursement rates as they relate to correct coding compliance.
- Business Development Support: Engages in client relationship development to identify service enhancements, up-selling, and cross-selling opportunities that support revenue cycle goals.
- Operations Collaboration: Partners closely with coding operations teams to meet and exceed daily productivity, quality, and reimbursement timelines.
Minimum Essential Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in health care administration, business, or a related discipline; OR a graduate of an approved Health Information program or Medical Insurance Certificate Program is preferred.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in physician and/or hospital clinical and procedural coding.
- Software Mastery: Proficiency in utilizing PC-based system applications, electronic medical records (EMR), and coding encoder software.
- Core Skills: Strong understanding of managed care delivery systems (HMO, POS, PPO); direct experience interfacing with physician and provider practices; exceptional written and verbal communication; and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
