YARD FOREMAN

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervise and coordinate all aspects of yard activities and all workers engaged in materials movement or handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling, shipping, and maintaining stock in the yard and buildings.
• Load/unload trucks (vendor and BGS) as needed.
• Unload and secure train cars (as required).
• Maintain yard cleanliness by directing laborers on clean-up details.
• Responsible for snow removal.
• Assist customers in the yard.
• Ensure material is stocked and handled properly.
• Conduct or supervise cycle counts from all areas of the yard (including sheds and warehouses).
• Involved in the hiring process of yard personnel (e.g., interview, road test for drivers, test for forklift operator skills, etc.).
• Responsible for training yard personnel on the processes and procedures associated with performing their job responsibilities.
• Maintain control of all personnel in yard under his/her direction.
• Other duties as requested directed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous lumber or building supplies experience is strongly desired.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Qualified to operate a forklift, and assist when needed.
• Able to assist in cutting beams when needed.
• Valid NJ CDL license with proper endorsements, clean driving record, and ability to meet all US DOT physical regulations to ssist with driving a truck when needed is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The position could involve standing, walking, reaching, lifting, bending, crouching, climbing, pushing, pulling and sitting for long periods of time throughout the day.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Exposed to cold weather in the winter and hot weather in the summer.

Compensation details: 59800-70200 Yearly Salary
