Technical Project Manager - FTTH Construction

Location: New Jersey Can site in Can work out of locations, Piscataway, Tinton Falls, Oakland, Parsippany. Randolph, maybe Nyack

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to support fiber network expansion and edge-out construction projects

throughout New Jersey. This role is ideal for a telecom professional with a strong background in FTTH network deployment,

OSP construction, vendor management, and project delivery .

The ideal candidate will bring both project management expertise and technical knowledge of fiber network design. This individual will work closely with construction vendors and field crews while overseeing project schedules, documentation, invoicing, quality control, and network deployment activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple FTTH and network expansion projects from initiation through closeout.
• Coordinate construction vendors and field crews supporting new build and edge-out initiatives.
• Track project milestones, schedules, budgets, and deliverables using SiteTracker.
• Review and validate contractor invoicing, production reports, and project documentation.
• Perform quality control reviews of as-built packages to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Verify construction progress aligns with project scope and billing.
• Partner with engineering, permitting, construction, and operations teams to support successful project delivery.
• Identify project risks and drive resolutions to maintain timelines.
• Provide regular project status reporting and updates to leadership.
• Support field inspections and vendor oversight as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of project management experience within telecommunications, broadband, or fiber construction environments.
• Strong experience supporting FTTH, Fiber-to-the-Home, OSP, and broadband deployment projects.
• Experience managing construction contractors and outside vendors.
• Hands-on experience with SiteTracker (Salesforce CRM platform) or similar project management systems.
• Ability to review and audit as-built documentation, project records, and contractor billing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of project documentation.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Technical Experience Desired

• Deep understanding of OSP (Outside Plant) fiber construction
• Knowledge of GPON architecture and fiber network design principles
• Understanding of fiber counts, fiber routing, splice documentation, and network layouts
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction packages
• Familiarity with OTDR testing and fiber acceptance processes
• Knowledge of HFC/coax infrastructure and cable network construction
• Experience supporting Node Split, Mid-Split, Edge-Out, or network expansion initiatives

Preferred background

• Prior experience working for a cable provider, broadband operator, ISP, or telecommunications company
• Experience supporting large-scale fiber deployment projects
• Knowledge of both fiber and coax network infrastructure

This is a Contract position based out of Piscataway, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $42.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Piscataway,NJ.
