Job Description

Job Summary: The CNA provides essential patient care by assisting with activities of daily living and delivering basic nursing services under supervision. They ensure a safe, clean environment and support the healthcare team in delivering quality care.

Responsibilities:

• Perform patient care activities such as answering call lights, serving and collecting food trays, feeding patients, and recording food and liquid intake/output.
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, pericare, and personal cares while maintaining patient privacy and dignity.
• Support routine treatments and procedures, including applying warm or cold treatments, collecting specimens, and monitoring vital signs, weights, and heights.
• Provide general nursing support such as positioning, turning, ambulating patients, and assisting with use of specialized equipment.
• Prepare patient units, rooms, and beds for admissions, transfers, emergencies, and discharges, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
• Observe and report any changes in patients' physical or mental status to the RN or LPN, especially in emergency or critical situations.

Qualifications:

• Certified by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Demonstrates visual and auditory ability to monitor patient statuses and detect changes.
• Holds BLS-CPR Certification within 60 days of hire.
• Knowledge of infection control, safety policies, and patient privacy standards.
