Senior Engineer, Gas Asset Engineering

This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business.The RoleThe Senior Engineer focuses on developing the non-pipeline alternatives (NPA) assessment process, which will include continuing to develop digital assessment tools. They also partner with asset engineers to integrate the climate compliance requirements into the Company’s risk-based asset management strategy.What You'll DoCollaborate with current gas and electric process owners to identify process enhancements to evaluate NPAs to gas infrastructure investmentsAssist the technical team with program support in the development of NPA and Integrated Energy Planning (IEP) software applicationsCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement NPA frameworks, establish IEP best practices and other future of heat initiativesSupport implementation of the Company’s networked geothermal project and targeted electrification demonstration programProvide engineering support for the Company’s decarbonization efforts, which includes regulatory filings, white paper collaboration and research activitiesAbout YouBachelors’ degree in an engineering discipline required, ABET-accreditation preferred5+ years of experience in an engineering or technical project role requiredPrevious gas planning experience utilizing Synergi gas hydraulic modeling software or equivalent preferredPrevious experience or training with decarbonization technologies such as geothermal heating systems, renewable natural gas projects or hydrogen engineering projects preferredPrevious experience developing long and short-term investment plans using risk-based gas asset management principles preferredExceptional verbal and written communication requiredStrong computer skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite requiredExperience with utility work management systems, advanced SQL queries and data models, advanced Python skills and managing large-scale data systems across cloud and enterprise platforms preferredValid driver’s license requiredSalary$123,000 - $144,000 a yearNational Grid will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
