Zoic Studios is expanding its virtual pipeline and seeking experienced digital artists for our latest Work from Home jobs . We are hiring a highly skilled Senior Character Animator for a short-term contract position. In this remote role, you will work closely with our Animation Director and Animation Supervisor to craft compelling, hyper-realistic character performances for high-end live-action film and television productions.

Compensation & Employment Terms

The hourly pay range for this remote contract position is $55.00 to $65.00 per hour , dependent on experience (DOE).

The final hourly rate offered will be determined based on a variety of individual factors, including but not limited to:

• The applicant’s specific professional qualifications and years of relevant VFX industry experience.
• Level of formal education, specialized animation certifications, or technical licenses held.
• The candidate’s geographic location (where applicable).

Key Responsibilities

As a remote Senior Character Animator, you will be expected to seamlessly navigate both the artistic and technical demands of a fast-paced VFX production pipeline from your home studio. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Performance & Realism: Creating high-quality, photorealistic character and creature animation that blends seamlessly into live-action plates for film and television.
• Shot Ownership: Taking shots completely from initial layout/blocking through to final asset polish, ensuring timing, weight, and composition meet director standards.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Working actively alongside the FX, Rigging, Layout, and Lighting departments via remote communication channels to ensure clean asset integration.
• Motion Capture Polish: Processing, editing, and refining raw motion capture data within Autodesk Maya to elevate and enhance stylized or realistic character performances.
• Pipeline & Production Timelines: Delivering complex work strictly on time while operating efficiently within an established, cloud-based studio pipeline.
• Virtual Dailies & Feedback Iteration: Participating in online studio review sessions, processing constructive feedback from supervisors, and implementing shot revisions rapidly.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for a self-motivated artist who excels at independent time management in a home work environment and combines a deep understanding of physical mechanics with a proactive attitude.

Experience & Artistry

• Industry Track Record: Proven professional experience working as a 3D Animator within a dedicated film and/or television VFX pipeline is strictly required.
• Physical Mechanics: A profound, foundational understanding of anatomy, weight distribution, leverage, and physical movement—essential for generating believable, live-action integration.
• Remote Adaptability: The ability to stay organized, manage daily quotas independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting creative priorities.

Technical Skillset

• Maya Expertise: Advanced proficiency animating in Autodesk Maya using both traditional keyframe techniques (from reference) and motion capture data.
• Mocap Integration: Hands-on experience import-mapping, cleaning, and blending motion capture data onto production rigs.
• Communication: Meticulous attention to detail, exceptional digital communication skills (Slack, Zoom, etc.), and a highly collaborative, solution-oriented approach to team production.
