Position Overview

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is seeking an experienced Epic PB (Professional Billing) & Revenue Cycle Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support revenue cycle operations and patient benefits analysis across multiple clinic locations. This role will focus on coverage discovery, patient responsibility analysis, insurance benefit interpretation, revenue cycle optimization, and Epic Professional Billing workflows.

Note: This is a hybrid position. Fully remote candidates will not be considered. Occasional travel may be required and reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities

• Review insurance coverage discovery for scheduled patient appointments and determine patient financial responsibility.

• Document coverage and benefits information accurately within Epic.

• Analyze trends related to patient responsibility collections and third-party payer reimbursements across 88 clinic locations.

• Recommend process improvements to optimize revenue cycle performance and collections.

• Interpret Real-Time Eligibility (RTE) responses and third-party insurance coverage data.

• Support revenue cycle reporting, claims adjudication, data analysis, and training initiatives.

• Collaborate with clinical leadership, operations teams, and revenue cycle stakeholders.

• Assist with clearinghouse processes, benefit verification, and patient financial workflows.

• Provide subject matter expertise related to Epic Professional Billing (PB) and revenue cycle operations.

Required Skills

• Advanced Epic Professional Billing (PB) experience.

• RHIA, RHIT, or CPC Certification (Required).

• Revenue Cycle Clearinghouse expertise.

• Insurance Benefit Interpretation experience.

• Revenue Cycle reporting, build, workflow logic, and claims adjudication.

• Third-Party Coverage Discovery experience.

• Real-Time Eligibility (RTE) Interpretation.

• Revenue Cycle data analysis and training experience.

Preferred Skills

• Mississippi healthcare experience.

• Public Health or Community Health experience.

• Physician Clinic revenue cycle experience.

• FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) experience.

• RHC (Rural Health Clinic) revenue cycle experience.
