MachinistLinde Inc.Tonawanda, NY, United StatesWhat you will enjoy doing:Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand design and specificationsCalculate and confirm dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and precision instruments such as micrometers and calipersPlan the sequence of machining steps necessary for job completion and estimate required time accuratelySelect, set up, adjust, and operate basic and specialized machine tools to perform precision machining operationsAdjust feeds and speeds effectively according to the material being machinedDesign and fabricate jigs, tooling, and templates to facilitate machining of complex parts and maintain inventory of these itemsPerform additional machining tasks including cutting, heat-treating, polishing, filing, grinding, and drilling as neededMaintain logs of requested work and keep accurate records of completed tasks including timesheetsManage workload to balance multiple long-lead projects alongside daily short-term requestsWhat makes you great:Basic machinist training at the college level required3-5 years of machining experience using manual and/or programmable machines is required with the aptitude and desire to learn as needed. Work collaboratively with experienced machinists, take direction and actively learn from their expertiseAbility to read and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and sketchesProficient in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc)Complex machining functions requiring average to above-average skill and ability requiredExperience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialty alloys such as Inconel, Incoloy, Hastelloy, Monel, etc. as well as ceramics, Teflon, and plasticsPrograms and uses CNC milling machines and lathes on jobs where manual machines are not suitableWhy you will love working with us:Linde is a leading global industrial gases and engineering company with 2025 sales of $34 billion.
