Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist will provide assistance to students with developmental delays or disorders affecting their fine motor, visual-perception, cognitive, and sensory-processing skills. Psychological, social, and environmental factors are considered when providing occupational therapy services to students.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Arizona State OT License
• AZ IVP Fingerprint Card
• Related fieldwork experience preferred

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist in designing a District-wide program in sensory-motor development to meet the needs of all students.
• Assist in scheduling the sensory-motor program in cooperation with Special Service Staff and regular classroom staff.
• Implement the sensory-motor program to provide remediation of developmental lags.
• Maintain a pre- and post-evaluation of all students in the sensory-motor program.
• Develop a follow-up procedure of students who have or are receiving the sensory-motor program.
• Assist in the evaluation of materials.
• Submit budget request needs.
• Maintain program inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Participate in the developing of a District in-service education program.
• Participate in assessing the children's needs in the area of sensory-motor development.
• Maintain lines of communication with: Teachers, Students, Parents, and Administrators.
• Attend grade level and special services meetings.
• Attend parent-student-teacher conferences.
• Relate all items of concern to Principals and Executive Director of Special Services.
• Submit reports to the administration and Special Education Coordinator as requested.

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls and use a keyboard or keypad.
• The employee occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is frequently required to stand and walk or sit.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and monitor students on the periphery.

Work Environment:

• The employee regularly works indoors.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment:

• Exempt Status 10 months (163 work days)
