Senior Linux Administrator

Our client, a leading financial organization in investment management solutions, is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to join their team. As a Senior Linux Administrator, you will be part of the Infrastructure Support team supporting critical enterprise environments across on-prem and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, excellent collaboration abilities, and a proactive approach to system management, which will align successfully in the organization. Location: Owings Mills, MD (Hybrid) Pay Range: $59-62/hr (Depending on years of experience) What's the Job? Design, implement, and support enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) solutions across physical and VMware environments. Manage provisioning and lifecycle operations, including LUN/volume allocation, host mapping, masking, and expansion. Monitor and optimize Linux system performance, availability, and capacity using modern toolsets like Prometheus and Grafana. Manage and optimize advanced NAS platforms and file services using NFS (v3/v4) and autofs within Kerberos‑enabled enterprise environments. Support disaster recovery operations, including automated system replication, failover testing, and rapid incident response. Lead Linux operating system upgrades, server migrations, and infrastructure modernization initiatives. Participate in team on‑call rotation and provide Tier‑3 technical support for critical incidents. What's Needed? 7+ years of enterprise Linux administration experience, specifically with RHEL (RHEL 7, 8, 9) Hands‑on experience managing and configuring RHEL workloads within VMware vSphere and cloud environments. Strong understanding of Linux networking, multipathing, NFS, autofs, and connecting Linux hosts to SAN/NAS backends. Experience with automation tools such as Puppet and Ansible for system configuration management. Strong proficiency in Shell scripting and Ansible to automate tasks. Operational experience working within ITIL frameworks, including change management and incident management processes. Preferred Qualifications RedHat Certifications: RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or RedHat Certified Architect (RHCA). VMware Certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP). Cloud Infrastructure: Experience integrating or migrating on‑premises Linux workloads with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS). Large‑Scale Operations: Proven experience operating in large, highly regulated enterprise data center environments.
