Presbyterian is seeking a skilled RN for our Wound Care Unit. The Registered Nurse provides specialized assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic wounds. This role ensures evidence based wound care, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and educates patients and staff to promote optimal healing outcomes.How you grow, learn and thrive matters here.• Educational and career development options, including tuition and certification reimbursement, scholarship opportunities• Staff Safety (a wearable badge that allows nurses to quickly and discreetly call for help when safety is a concern)• Differentials for night/weekend shifts, higher education, certifications and various lead roles (for eligible positions)• Malpractice liability insurance• Loan forgiveness through the New Mexico Higher Education Department• EPIC electronic charting systemType of Opportunity: PRN FTE: 0.00 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 12 Hour Nights (United States of America)Responsibilities:Wound assessment — Perform comprehensive evaluations of pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, venous/arterial ulcers, burns, and atypical wounds; document staging, measurements, drainage, and tissue characteristics.Treatment planning — Develop individualized wound care plans using evidence‑based protocols, including debridement support, dressing selection, offloading, compression therapy, and infection prevention.Dressing management — Apply and monitor advanced wound dressings (hydrocolloids, alginates, foams, NPWT, antimicrobial dressings).Patient education — Teach patients and caregivers about wound care techniques, nutrition, hygiene, and prevention strategies.Interdisciplinary collaboration — Work closely with physicians, podiatrists, PT/OT, dietitians, and case managers to coordinate care.Documentation — Maintain accurate, timely wound records, photographs, and progress notes in the EMR.Quality improvement — Participate in pressure‑injury prevention programs, audits, and performance improvement initiatives.Staff training — Provide in‑service education on wound prevention, dressing techniques, and product use.Infection control — Monitor for signs of infection and escalate care appropriately.Qualifications:Associate Degree in NursingState of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing LicenseBLS certification REQUIRED at time of hireAt least one (1) year of acute care in the last three (3) yearsWound care experience preferredWound Certification preferred but not requiredWe're all about well-being, starting with yours.Presbyterian employees have access to a fun, engaging and unique wellness program, including free on-site and community-based gyms, nutrition coaching and classes, mindfulness and meditation resources, wellness challenges and more.Learn more about our employee benefits.About Presbyterian Healthcare ServicesPresbyterian exists to improve the health of patients, members, and the communities we serve.
