Senior Financial Analyst

Job ResponsibilitiesWe are currently seeking a Senior Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst at our corporate headquarters located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We offer a flexible work policy and hybrid work environment from home and office. This is an 80+% in-office role. Reporting to the Sr. Global Director FP&A, you will support the analysis of financial plans, forecasts and operational results as well as corporate departments in their budgeting and forecasting processes. As a Senior FP&A Analyst, you'll work collaboratively with many cross-functional teams including our business unit finance and accounting teams, operations and corporate accounting to align on financial results. In order to be successful, you will have to quickly learn Koppers’ businesses and use your analytical skills to effectively analyze and interpret financial results, assist with monthly and quarterly forecasts, perform variance analysis and identify risks and opportunities that are critical to the success of the organization.Prepare, review and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reportsUnderstand key business drivers and track key performance indicatorsCompile and analyze the quarterly and annual budgetHelp monitor the company’s performance against its quarterly, annual and long-range strategic planAssist in preparing financial models and analytical reports to drive business decisionsContribute to the planning and preparation of certain financial Board materialsAssist project teams with financial guidance and participate in special projectsEnsure delivery of financial commitments, drive process standardization initiatives and assist with streamlining financial reporting processesSupport business units and corporate departments in managing and forecasting costs and capital projects, as well as calculating/validating returns or performing lookback analysis on projects and initiativesCalculate/validate returns or perform lookback analysis on projects and initiativesAssist in quarterly and annual analysis for earning releases, Form 10-Q and Form 10-K filingsSupport and participate in ad-hoc analysis on business performanceBecome a superuser for Oracle and other reporting tools, including assisting with implementation of Oracle PBCSAssist in developing and reviewing presentations for business leaders, including the CEO and CFOPerform research and analysis as requiredQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related discipline; CPA or MBA preferred5-7 years of FP&A experience with a fast-paced public firm or private industrial company; manufacturing experience preferredStrong background in financial planning and business analyticsExperience with an ERP system; Oracle and/or Microsoft Dynamics Nav preferredExperience with data analytics tools, methodologies and dashboarding / visualization applicationsOracle and Essbase/Smartview experience strongly preferredWide-ranging knowledge of financial valuation and modelling techniquesTechnology acumen a plusProficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and modelingProject management skillsAbility to manage multiple deliverables, excellent time management & prioritizationDynamic communication and team building skills; ability to inspire team members to deliver outstanding resultsAbility to present financial information to a non-financial audienceStrong ambition and an ability to deal with ambiguity while working towards resultsProven track record of standing alone and not shying away from difficult or unpopular positionsFlexibility and ability to “shift gears" frequently; as the business continues to evolve, focus will vary from tactical day-to-day operations management to sophisticated long-term strategy considerationsKoppers Inc. and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity employers.
