Senior Investment Professional, Real Estate

The Senior Investment Professional role analyzes, documents, and prepares necessary information for the closing of complex commercial real‑estate transactions and coordinates closing of real‑estate investments with the CML origination team and counsel. Key Responsibilities Oversee the closing process for new and modification loans in the commercial mortgage portfolio, coordinating workflow among closing staff, borrowers, correspondents, counsel, and REI staff. Assess documentation, review loan documents for accuracy, and ensure consistency with applications. Review leases, estoppels, insurance, and third‑party reports to confirm terms comply with Nationwide policies. Participate in calls, meetings, and email correspondence related to loan closings. Maintain database updates for new or modified loans and finalize documentation promptly. Evaluate correspondent closing staff performance and provide constructive feedback. Lead process improvements, checklists, and procedures for closing activities. Assist due diligence audit of servicers, providing review and documentation within targeted dates. Manage updates to standard loan documents, collaborating closely with internal counsel. Act as subject‑matter expert for REI, supporting complex loan applications, negotiations, due diligence, and insurance reviews. Oversee the network of regional counsel and third‑party vendors, including selection and ongoing review. Train new closing staff and support due diligence and origination efforts. Participate in the annual upgrade testing of the mortgage loan system. Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership with REI or OOI. Typical Skills and Experiences Education: Bachelor’s degree (paralegal experience preferred). Experience: 10+ years in related commercial real‑estate mortgage roles. Advanced knowledge of commercial real‑estate loan documents and related purposes. Strong analytical skills: basic math including NOI, DSC, and LTV. Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal/negotiation skills. Self‑starter, proactive, and quick learner with ability to communicate complex ideas. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software. Organizational and record‑keeping skills for portfolio management and process tracking. Strategic thinker with high business acumen and leadership potential. Job Conditions Overtime Eligibility: Not eligible (Exempt).
