Graduate Research Assistant III (PhD) – BRI FY27‑FY31 Job Title: Graduate Research Assistant III (PhD) – BRI FY27‑FY31 Location: Alpine Department: Borderlands Research Institute Job No.: G98283 Posting Date: 07/06/2026 End Date: 08/31/2031 Appointment Date: 09/01/2027 Required: 20 hours per week; complete tasks with minimal supervision; learn new skills; operate Microsoft Office; support students, faculty, and administration; exhibit excellent communication, attention to detail, and a solution‑oriented mindset; uphold FERPA and other confidential matters; work 20 hours per week. Primary Responsibilities All graduate research assistants coordinate with a faculty mentor to guide and direct activities. The Graduate Research Assistant III will assist faculty members with collecting and analyzing data and reporting results on various research projects. They will mentor and assist other students as part of the research team, co‑lead planning, data collection, data analysis, and publication efforts, with leadership responsibilities increasing over the term of the project. The Assistant will initiate communication of project status to the faculty mentor and co‑develop communications with stakeholders. They will also mentor an undergraduate student and maintain personal safety and the safety of others by practicing safe work habits at all times. This position is security sensitive.
