Transfer DriverGA Foods is seeking to hire a Transfer Driver for our Augusta/Covington location. The Transfer Driver is responsible for safely transporting prepared meals, raw materials, equipment, and other goods between GA Foods facilities and customer locations as assigned. This role ensures all deliveries and pickups are completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. The Transfer Driver may also assist with loading and unloading, vehicle inspections, and documentation.ResponsibilitiesOperate Class B 26' vehicles to transfer products between facilities across FloridaLoad and unload vehicles using electric pallet jack and manually into freezers or warehousesWork Monday through Friday; overtime and weekends may be required based on route assignmentPerform warehousing functions including product transfers to maintain accurate food supply inventoryCommunicate delivery and inventory updates with SupervisorComplete vehicle upkeep and maintenance including PMs and DVIRAssist with packing, storing, and staging of food items or supplies as neededMaintain required records and documentation accuratelyAttend and successfully complete all required company trainingMaintain confidentiality of sensitive informationPerform other duties as assignedExperienceValid Class B CDL LicenseNo DUI in the last 5 years, 0–4 current pointsCurrent DOT medical card or ability to pass DOT medical examMust successfully pass Level II background check, drug screening, and Clearinghouse verificationPrior route, delivery, or distribution experience requiredGood planning skills and attention to detailBasic computer skills to operate a tablet for route and vehicle documentationAbility to lift up to 50lbsandoperatepallet jacks safelyStrong time management, communication, and customer service skillsKnowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices1–2 years of professional driving experiencePreferred QualificationsWork EnvironmentThis role involves a mix of warehouse, kitchen, office, and driving responsibilities.Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods while overseeing production, distribution, and loading activities.Regularly required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, often in fast-paced conditions.Frequent bending, squatting, reaching, climbing, and stooping are necessary during food handling, equipment checks, and vehicle loading.Will be responsible for driving delivery routes as needed; requires sitting for prolonged periods, operating a vehicle safely, and complying with DOT standards.Daily use of computers and office equipment to enter data, prepare reports, send emails, and manage schedules.Work takes place in a variety of environments, including temperature-controlled kitchens, warehouse spaces, delivery vehicles, and standard office settings.Exposure to varying temperatures (cold storage, loading docks, outdoor conditions) is expected.Position requires the ability to balance hands-on physical tasks with administrative and supervisory duties.This position follows a standard weekly schedule, however, weekend work may be required based on business needs.Employment for this position is contingent upon successful completion of a background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
