Project Manager II

POSITION SUMMARY: Project Manager II is accountable for driving and delivering projects with limited supervision and guidance. Projects will vary in size and complexity, in alignment with business and/or enterprise strategies. This role exercises independent judgment, manages cross-functional project teams, and may mentor or provide direction to less-experienced Project Managers. The Project Manager II plans, manages, and delivers distinct projects through all phases (concept through final implementation and post-project assessment).


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accountable for the project management process and project management deliverables, for all assigned projects from initiation through closure.


• Projects will include in-house development and implementation of third-party vendor products.


• Projects will vary in size and complexity, in alignment with business and/or enterprise strategies Assist in defining project scope, budget, timelines, and milestones that support the business goal while working collaboratively with business partners. Accountable for managing assigned projects within scope, schedule, and budget.


• Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resources plans, and status reports.


• Plan, track and manage project schedules, tasks, and actions adhering to FPI project management methodology by ensuring that recognized project management processes, discipline and controls are consistently applied to projects.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery methodologies, process documentation, and standards.

• Gain recognition as a trusted advisor/leader with customers.

• Plan and coordinate kickoff meetings and other appropriate launch activities to support group understanding and objectives.

• Direct day-to-day activities of projects and staff in matrixed organization.

• Manage cross-functional project teams including subject matter experts, business analysts, IT professionals, and other stakeholders in a matrixed environment.

• Develop and deliver effective internal and external stakeholder communications on assigned projects and programs including regular updates to executive leadership on project status, milestones, and key technical considerations.

• Identify and investigate all project dependencies and risks, ensuring effective mitigation and contingency plans are in place, escalating where needed.

• Document, track, measure, and report progress in achieving stated goals and ensuring quality results.

• Organize and lead check-point meetings providing regular project status updates.

• Control change to project scope using accepted change processes and documentation.

• Identify project interdependencies, assess organizational impact, and coordinate delivery across business units and technology teams.

• Monitor project budgets by tracking actuals against planned expenditures, prepare monthly financial reforecasts, and provide clear data-driven explanations for budget variances.

• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

• Typically, 5+ years of progressively increasing responsible experience managing complex information technology projects, preferably within financial services or banking.


• PMP certification preferred

• Agile experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ability to report to work in person and to attend work-related functions/activities.

• Ability to work at a desk and use a computer for extended periods.

• Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 10 pounds occasionally.

• Ability to occasionally travel as required.

• Ability to type and utilize various software programs efficiently and operate general office equipment.

• Ability to work in an office setting with moderate noise levels.

• Additional physical demands include, but may not be limited to, frequent talking or hearing, occasional push/pull, stoop/kneel, bend/twist, and reach to retrieve or move items in a typical office environment.

• Must be able to work scheduled hours and overtime as needed.

• Hybrid or remote work arrangements

o This role has been designated as a Hybrid role, which gives employees the opportunity to work from home on Mondays and Fridays and working in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

o Exceptions to the designated work arrangement may be made based on business needs.
