Senior Data Analyst

Role Description

Onyx Government Service is seeking a Senior Data Analyst with AI/ML, SAS, Tableau, and Python experience to support Federal data management and Advanced Analytics projects. This individual will be responsible for:

• Creating reports and dashboards
• Querying databases
• Data quality assurance
• ETL support

The Senior Data Analyst will join our team as one of the senior SAS/Tableau developers for a data-warehousing project to solve business intelligence challenges. The position requires deep technical expertise in SQL, BI tools, ETL, and data profiling.

Security Clearance: Must possess active BI or NACLC Public Trust security clearance (sponsorship not available).

Responsibilities:

• Extract data from a variety of sources, such as relational database, EDW, and Foundry for use in analysis
• Engage with operational business stakeholders to identify key initiatives and execute solutions to business problems using data analysis and advanced analytics
• Perform quality assurance of reporting and dashboard deliverables to ensure quality of both data and analysis
• Work collaboratively to align business requirements with data and analytical solutions while empowering business to draw insights and analyze data
• Identify areas of concern of as-is processes and business dependencies
• Coordinate and facilitate requirement gathering, playing an active role in the discovery, analysis, value validation, design, and testing phases
• Ideate with functional analysts and business process owners
• Monitor changes in business, making recommendations where analytics can further improve business
• Create Tableau related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Document development for peer reference and knowledge transfer

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of Business Intelligence development, or data processing/analytical experience or combination thereof
• At least 5 years of work experience in an analytical role
• Extensive hands-on experience with Tableau, including Desktop, Tableau Server/Cloud, dashboard design and development, data visualization, reporting, and analytics
• Experience with SAS development, including the use of SAS/Macro, Data Step, and SAS/Access
• Experience with Enterprise Guide and Enterprise Miner/SAS Data Mining procedures a plus
• Strong SQL skills and Tableau development experience
• Strong conceptual, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Partner with data scientists, AI/ML engineers, data engineers, and business stakeholders on AI and machine learning initiatives
• Analyze and prepare data for AI/ML models and support model development, validation, and performance analysis
• Support Generative AI and LLM-related initiatives, including identifying business use cases and evaluating AI-generated outputs
• Apply Python libraries and tools such as Pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn for data analysis and analytical modeling
• Must have good leadership, communication, and writing skills
• Ability to show the future and benefits of analytics activities to the client

Requirements

• Extensive experience in Tableau dashboard design and development
• Quality assurance and validation experience, specifically comparing multiple data sources for discrepancies and inconsistencies
• Experience building or operating production systems that integrate generative AI/LLMs, beyond prototype or experimental work
• Strong understanding of AI output evaluation and quality assessment, not just system uptime
• Backend or full-stack engineering skills to own the surrounding pipeline including data flow, APIs, and deployment
• Comfortable with prompt engineering and iterative model tuning as a continuous responsibility
• Ability to work independently, manage a backlog, and balance delivery speed with accuracy in high-precision domains

Salary Range

$150,000 - $170,000 annually. The salary range for this position represents the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's qualifications, experience, education, skills, contract requirements, funding, and other business considerations.
