School Social Worker

The School Social Worker will provide services to students and families which strengthen home/school/community relationships and alleviate barriers to learning. To support the mission of the district goals, procedures, and policies in the best interest of the student by professionally carrying out assigned duties and participating in the improvement and refinement of related areas. To coordinate program resources to promote the development of each student.

Required qualifications include authorization to work in the United States, a valid Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (Educator), Standard Guidance Counselor Certificate, Social Worker Certificate preferred, Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, and Master's degree (MSW) preferred from a college or university. One year of successful social work experience or one year of field instruction in a school system, or six semester hours of acceptable coursework. Knowledge of school, district and community resources.

Key responsibilities include adhering to the district vision, mission, core values and goals, providing outstanding customer service, demonstrating a high regard for confidential and sensitive information, serving as a site-based liaison, conducting school wide needs assessment, providing direct intervention, using data to guide service delivery, implementing site level educational programs, identifying challenges impacting students' success, serving on school/district assigned subcommittees and crisis response team, participating in department planning and training, implementing evidence informed prevention programs, planning and conducting school activities related to mental health, consulting with school personnel, providing direct services to students, facilitating interventions, making home visits, maintaining secure record keeping, participating in professional development, and implementing social emotional learning strategies.
