RN - 2nd shift Monday - Friday

Responsibilities Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion-free psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus features mature oaks, walking paths and outdoor spaces. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach moderation of behavior, emotional management and improved social functioning. The Registered Nurse (RN) position is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. The RN provides physical assessments, implements treatment plans, evaluates response to treatment, documents completely, administers medications as prescribed and provides health care education for patients and families. The RN is the shift supervisor of Mental Health Techs and LVN staff and ensures the environment is safe and therapeutic for all patients. The RN provides direct patient care and management of children, adolescents, and young adults as prescribed by the physician and treatment team, ensures safety, supervision, and crisis management, and assists in medical management of patients and the therapeutic milieu. One year psychiatric / neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and/or young adults in a long-term hospital or residential setting preferred. Experience Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.
