Travel Details Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks Hours: 40 per week, 8‑hour day shifts Employment Type: Travel Location Facility in San Marcos, Texas Position Summary The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort of patients during surgical procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team to maintain high‑quality, patient‑centered care. Key Responsibilities Prepare the operating room with required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies. Assist in positioning, preparing, and comforting patients before surgery. Maintain a sterile field and follow infection control protocols. Anticipate needs of the surgical team by providing instruments and supplies promptly. Monitor patient’s condition, document significant changes, and notify the surgeon. Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal. Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly. Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases. Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies and standards. Follow hospital safety rules, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures. Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice. Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN. Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC). Preferred Qualifications ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications. OR Nursing Certification (CNOR). Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position. Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, present a positive attitude, and professionalism. Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and assist with procedures or equipment. Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure; work under close supervision occasionally, or without assistance from other personnel; contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and maintain continuous concentration to detail.
