By identifying and mitigating packaging-related risks, this role ensures consumer safety, maintains regulatory compliance, protects brand integrity, and supports the successful delivery of innovation, renovation, and commercialization projects. Strong preference for candidates located near our manufacturing sites in Eau Claire, WI; Franklin Park, IL; or Savannah, GA, with the ability to support onsite business needs as required.ResponsibilitiesPackaging Safety & Compliance LeadershipLead packaging safety and food-contact compliance programs across the Nutrition & Health portfolioEnsure packaging materials comply with Nestlé policies, global standards, and applicable regulationsServe as the primary subject matter expert, providing guidance to cross-functional teamsApprove packaging compliance decisions within established governance and risk frameworksIdentify and mitigate packaging-related risks to protect consumers, business continuity, and brand reputationSupport compliance with customer, retailer, and market-specific packaging requirementsRegulatory Compliance & Risk ManagementMonitor emerging packaging regulations and assess business impactsConduct risk assessments and technical reviews to ensure material safety and regulatory complianceEvaluate conventional, recycled, and novel packaging materials against regulatory and Nestlé requirementsSupport export market compliance and country-specific regulatory requirementsProvide technical support for audits, inspections, customer inquiries, and regulatory requestsLead the collection, review, and maintenance of packaging Declarations of Compliance and supporting documentationVerify compliance through assessment of technical data, migration studies, and testing resultsMaintain documentation systems to ensure traceability and audit readinessDevelop risk-based packaging surveillance and testing programsPartner with Supplier Quality to assess supplier compliance and packaging safety performanceInnovation, Renovation & Acquisition SupportSupport innovation, renovation, and commercialization projects by ensuring packaging compliance throughout developmentPartner with Procurement, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, and Sales to qualify packaging materialsAssess acquired brands and packaging systems for compliance with Nestlé standardsProvide packaging compliance expertise during due diligence and integration activitiesQuality Systems & CommercializationIntegrate packaging compliance requirements into quality systems and commercialization processesSupport investigations related to packaging complaints, compliance issues, and customer concernsLead implementation of packaging regulatory changes and compliance initiativesCapability Building & TrainingDevelop and deliver training on packaging safety, food-contact regulations, and compliance requirementsCoach stakeholders to strengthen organizational packaging compliance capabilitiesPromote awareness of emerging regulations, risks, and industry best practicesRepresent the organization in industry forums and professional associationsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Material Science, or related field5+ years of experience in packaging compliance, regulatory, quality, or food industry environmentsKnowledge of food-contact regulations, regulatory compliance, and food safety requirementsExperience interpreting and applying domestic and global regulatory standardsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)SkillsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsEffective verbal, written, and presentation communication skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to influence and collaborate across cross-functional teamsAdaptable, self-motivated, and results-oriented in a fast-paced environmentSalary: $108,888.00 to $133,460.00 per yearBonus Eligibility: YesThe pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at top of range.
