IN-DCS-Foster Care Specialists

Position Foster Care Specialists Client Client: DCS Location IGCS, 402 W Washington St., Room W364 MS48; Indianapolis, IN 46204 Duration 3+ months (possibility of extension, with a 6-month renewal for a total of 12 months) Job Details On-site, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Flexible start time between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM, a 7.5‑hour day. Requires passing DCS fingerprinting and DCS CPI/CPS background check. Professional staff within the Department of Child Services Central Eligibility Unit performing multiple adoption eligibility tasks. Essential Functions Perform adoption eligibility tasks such as reviewing and processing status reports, preparing NRAE packets, making copies, managing electronic files, distributing mail, and preparing adoption finalization packets. Review and prepare various files for completion such as adoption payment files. Answer inquiries from adoptive parents concerning case status. Complete activities while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state policies and procedures. Determine Title IV‑E (Foster Care and Adoption Assistance) program eligibility based upon defined federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures. Interpret and analyze fiscal data and other information about children and families to enhance and maintain the department’s federal and state funding recoveries. Interact with Family Case Managers, supervisors, and Local Office Directors to request and clarify information when making determinations. Require effective verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience in an administrative assistant position, at least 2 years consecutive in the same role. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and proofreading skills. Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and multitask. Previous experience demanding a high level of confidentiality. Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to child services and foster eligibility.
