Research Laboratory Technician - Part-Time Temp

CORE JOB SUMMARY The Research Laboratory Technician aids scientists in their experiments by monitoring and recording their findings. Moreover, the Research Laboratory Technician ensures laboratory compliance with applicable safety regulations. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates laboratory equipment. Keeps records of research data and assists in analyzing it. Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and places orders in a timely fashion. Proofreads and assists in the writing of manuscripts, grant proposals, and lab protocols. Prepares reports of experiment results. Performs research by completing simple experiments or steps in more complicated studies. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Commitment to the University's core values. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment. Department Specific Functions We are looking for a research laboratory technician to assist with cell biology experiments (cell culture flow cytometry), and basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA and RNA purification and quantification. Part of the daily activities also include handling of mice, and performing in vivo mouse experiments as outlined in our IACUC protocols.
