Environmental Monitoring Technician – Water & Wastewater Technology

Blue Siren is seeking an Environmental Monitoring Technician to support our growing water and wastewater monitoring business. This is a hands-on technical position combining remote sensor monitoring, customer support, field installation, data review and sales support.

The position is ideal for someone interested in water, wastewater, environmental monitoring, civil engineering, instrumentation or environmental technology. We are open to entry-level candidates and will provide product and system training. Candidates with civil or environmental engineering education or experience are also encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do

• Review wireless environmental sensor data using the **WATERWAI® monitoring platform**.
• Identify unusual conditions, pollution events, sewer overflow events, equipment problems and other environmental anomalies.
• Contact customers when monitoring systems identify potential problems or conditions requiring attention.
• Provide technical support to municipalities, engineers, contractors and environmental professionals.
• Help customers configure and set up monitoring projects for sewer, stormwater and environmental applications.
• Assist customers with installation, configuration and troubleshooting of monitoring equipment.
• Occasionally travel to customer sites to assist with installations and field projects.
• Install and support equipment such as **rain gauges, sewer level sensors, flow monitors, water-quality sensors, wireless monitoring equipment and overflow monitoring systems**.
• Help customers understand monitoring data, alarms, dashboards and project results.
• Assist our sales team with technical questions, project planning, quotations and proposal preparation.
• Work with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot equipment and improve customer installations.
• Document customer issues, project configurations and technical solutions.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is technically curious, comfortable working with computers and data, and enjoys solving real-world problems.

Experience or education in one or more of the following is helpful but not required:

• Water or wastewater systems
• Environmental monitoring
• Civil or environmental engineering
• Instrumentation or electronics
• SCADA or remote monitoring systems
• Wireless/IoT equipment
• Field service or technical support
• Sewer flow, level or rainfall monitoring

Candidates should have strong communication and problem-solving skills and be comfortable working directly with customers.

Travel & Field Work

Some travel may be required to assist customers with field installations and monitoring projects. Projects may be located throughout the United States and occasionally internationally.

A valid driver’s license and valid passport are required.

Field work may involve working outdoors and around municipal water, stormwater and wastewater infrastructure.

Training & Growth

This can be an entry-level technical position, and Blue Siren will provide training on our monitoring equipment, WATERWAI software, wireless communications and environmental monitoring applications.

For the right individual, the position can develop into a larger role in technical support, project management, civil/environmental engineering support, applications engineering or technical sales.
