Senior Project ManagerSeeking a Senior Project Manager (PM) to lead project teams and plans, directs, and coordinates activities of large-scale, energy efficiency, capital improvement and major maintenance-focused construction projects supporting large energy asset operations.The Senior Project Manager (PM) leads project teams and plans, directs, and coordinates activities of large-scale, energy efficiency, capital improvement and major maintenance-focused construction projects supporting large energy asset operations.Ensures that projects are completed safely, with a high level of quality, & on-time and on/under budget.Manages all aspects of project phases, from conceptual through pre-construction to completion.Act as primary liaison with clients, existing plant operations and maintenance staff, support development of subcontract and procurement documentation, including scope of work, equipment/material lists, and specifications.Negotiates subcontract and procurement scope, and terms & conditionsMaintain & monitor safe working conditions; identifies, corrects, and reports unsafe work areas, enforces safety compliance.Develops and reviews project schedules, cost estimation, bill of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards and quotes from suppliersLead, plan, direct, and coordinate all project activities to ensure goals and objectives are achieved within established timeframes and budget constraints across disciplines; client, vendors / contractors, plant management and operations peers, internal legal, procurement departments.Manage all field resources and personnel, ensuring professional project execution from construction through project close-out.Manages and leads key aspects of project management support, including coordination of shop drawings and submittals, development and processing of change orders, response to Requests for Information (RFIs), tracking of project progress and schedules, preparation and tracking of invoices, as well as financial planning, cost forecasting, and schedule management. Manage interface with local plant management, operations and maintenance staffing.Typical projects include plant improvements for efficiency and reliability, infrastructure failure repairs such as steam system breakdowns due to weather events, and coordination with contractors, engineers, and customers for equipment replacement and outage staging.Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; flexibility due to occasional outages or weekend workMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and 5-years related work experience in construction project management, energy plant management or equivalent combination of education and related experienceDemonstrated experience managing and coordinating subcontractors, coordination with plant management, operations & management staff.Demonstrated expertise in construction project management methodologies, with experience managing projects in alignment with construction contracts and a strong understanding of engineering and construction documents and processesAbility to review and interpret schematic, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural drawings.Strong understanding of plant infrastructure; boilers, chillers, gas turbines and related auxiliaries including control systems.Demonstrated problem-solving skills and experience resolving challenging situations requiring tact and collaboration to maintain cost-effective operationsDemonstrated project budgeting, cost tracking, and cost estimating experienceExperience at preparing estimates and value engineeringAbility to climb and walk long distances, lift 50 lbs.Proven track record in attracting, managing & developing technical and administrative resources / personnel / contractorsDemonstrated strong skills with all Microsoft Office Suite applications.Proficiency in project scheduling and tracking using software such as Primavera and other common construction project management applications, work order systems ie: MaximoEffective written and oral communication/presentation skills, report generation & technical writing skills across disciplines; third-party contractors / vendors, clients, plant management / operations & maintenance staff, corporate peers in procurement, legal, HR.role requires multidimensional skills, including understanding cogeneration plants, managing relationships with contractors, engineers, peers, operations and maintenance staff, and customers, as well as strong communication, leadership, and delegation abilities.Broad technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, as the facility's projects span multiple technologies and require familiarity with plant operations and distribution networks.5-10 years of relevant experience, not necessarily straight out of school or with extensive experience but possessing the right technical and management skills.Broad experience managing plant improvement, repair, and upgrade projects across various systems.Project management skills are important, candidates with strong engineering backgrounds and relevant operations experience at co-generating district energy facilities are also considered suitableValid driver's licensePreferred Qualifications:7-years of experience managing construction projects and / or energy asset operations.Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical)Working experience in project management of multi-capital projects in support of Facility and assets improvement projects in collaboration with O&M teamExperience working on Design-Build contract projectsRegistered Professional Engineer preferredPMP certification or ability to achieve within 1-year.Benefits:Healthcare Insurance: Synectics offers eligible employees and their dependents healthcare coverage through BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois.
