Job Description and Duties Provide technical expertise, support, and recommendations on geotechnical topics throughout project lifecycle, beginning with project planning and continuing through design, construction, and operation. Conduct geotechnical studies, including site exploration, laboratory testing, analysis, and preparation of reports. Develop recommendations, designs, and specifications, considering constructability. Evaluate and address issues such as expansive soils, mechanically stabilized walls, tieback retaining walls, and geotechnical earthquake engineering. Participate in field site visits and travel to districts as required. Qualifications Graduate-level education in Geotechnical, Civil, or Structural Engineering, or equivalent coursework. Strong knowledge of soil mechanics principles and soil/rock testing methods. Experience with site exploration, sampling techniques, laboratory and field instrumentation, and geotechnical design. Familiarity with design of shallow and deep foundations. Must meet Minimum Qualifications under Pattern II and complete the TE Civil written hurdle exam. Special Requirements Appointment to Range D: Requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. PE license is not required for other ranges.
