About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead a team of Principal Engineers in the development of AI systems that significantly impact scientific discovery. The successful candidate will be deeply involved in technical decision-making, including architecture, system design, and engineering strategy, and will be responsible for scaling a team that operates at a high technical standard. This role is not focused on process management or organizational bureaucracy but rather on working with highly autonomous builders to create AI-native products and platforms. The VP of Engineering will also be instrumental in building an AI-native engineering culture and making high-impact decisions across multiple products. Candidates for this role should have a proven track record of leading senior engineering organizations, owning the architecture of complex production systems, and building and scaling products in startup or research environments. Experience in machine learning, AI, computational biology, chemistry, physics, or related domains is essential, as is a background in working at the intersection of research and engineering. The ideal candidate will have a history of hiring exceptional engineers and raising the technical bar, as well as strong written communication and technical leadership skills.
