Senior Staff Accountant Full Time Frederick, MD, US 4 days ago Requisition ID: 1057 POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for all facets of accounting for assigned subsidiaries (cities) including maintaining general ledger, preparation of financial statements (B/S and P&L), operations analysis and tax filings. Provides open communication flow between Company Headquarters and assigned subsidiaries. Ensures compliance with Company internal accounting controls and procedures for assigned subsidiaries. Provides high level of accounting support to subsidiary Corporate Controller/General Managers as needed. PRINCIPAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND EXPECTATIONS: Responsible for timely and accurate financial and operational reporting of multiple reportable subsidiaries. Prepares all journal entries for posting to PeopleSoft general Ledger. Maintains overall responsibility for maintenance of all general ledger supporting schedules. Reviews and thoroughly understands Carey subsidiary operations, as applicable, including: Billing and Credit Cards Collections Cash Receipts Adjustments Cash Disbursements Payroll Budgets Assists in preparation of financial statements (B/S and P&L) for assigned subsidiaries. Maintains overall responsibility for the preparation of supporting schedules for assigned subsidiaries. Performs financial analysis including metrics/benchmarking and other cost analyses as required. Works with the company’s independent auditors to provide schedules to support amounts and disclosures in the company’s audited financial statements. Files all sales tax reporting for assigned subsidiaries and ensures payments are made timely Completes the monthly bank reconciliation to the general ledger Manages communications and information flow between Headquarters and assigned subsidiaries. Focuses on standardization of consistent business procedures through implementation of best practices. Assists in ensuring that all reports meet standards and that the company utilizes the appropriate financial control policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of its financial reports. Responsible for internal control review and process improvements. Performs other related duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education: BS in Accounting Experience: 3-7 years experience with General Ledger and/or experience with all aspects of day-to-day accounting environment (including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and fixed assets). Experience with large ERP systems. A CPA is preferred, but not required. Skills: Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office, with Advanced proficiency in MS Excel Thorough knowledge Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and its practical application Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, in the English language and in business context Strong analytical skills and ability to think logically Attributes and Characteristics: Able to work independently, and produce error-free work product.
