Ute Pass Regional Health Service District Paramedic
Ute Pass Regional Health Service District (UPRHSD) is seeking a skilled, compassionate, clinically strong, and mission-driven Paramedic to provide advanced life support care to the communities we serve. This is an opportunity to join an organization that values clinical excellence, sound judgment, teamwork, and the ability to show up for people on what may be the hardest day of their lives. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a trusted advanced life support provider, patient advocate, partner, and community representative. Paramedics are supported through structured field training, clear clinical oversight, and a leadership team committed to helping providers succeed while maintaining the highest standards of care. The Paramedic is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, assessing patients, providing treatment within scope of practice, and transporting patients safely and professionally. Working under the medical authority of the Medical Director and the clinical oversight of the Deputy Chief of Clinical Services, the Paramedic serves as the primary clinical decision-maker on scenes where they are the highest credentialed provider present. Paramedics at UPRHSD may work in a variety of unit configurations, including with another Paramedic or with an EMT partner. This role requires clinical confidence, calm decision-making, clear communication, personal accountability, and a genuine commitment to delivering excellent care to every patient, every call, every shift.
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls throughout the District service area.
Provide advanced life support assessment, treatment, monitoring, medication administration, cardiac care, airway management, trauma care, and other interventions within scope of practice.
Serve as the clinical authority when acting as the highest credentialed provider on scene.
Communicate professionally with patients, families, partners, medical control, receiving facilities, and partner agencies.
Complete accurate and timely patient care reports and required documentation.
Maintain unit readiness, equipment, supplies, controlled substance accountability, and station responsibilities.
Participate in required training, continuing education, quality improvement, and District-directed activities.
Represent UPRHSD with professionalism, integrity, compassion, and pride in the community.
The ideal candidate is more than clinically capable; they are steady under pressure, compassionate with patients, accountable to their crew, and committed to being a positive representative of UPRHSD. This person understands that EMS is both a clinical profession and a public trust.
Demonstrates strong paramedic-level clinical knowledge and sound independent judgment.
Communicates clearly and respectfully with patients, families, colleagues, hospitals, and partner agencies.
Maintains composure in high-stress, emotionally charged, and rapidly changing situations.
Treats every patient with dignity, respect, and genuine care.
Takes ownership of clinical decisions, documentation, unit readiness, and professional conduct.
Works well as part of a team and supports partners, crewmates, and leadership.
Welcomes feedback, training, and continuous improvement.
Shares UPRHSD's commitment to person-centered wellness and excellent community service.

Completion of a District-approved Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) required within one (1) year of hire
Schedule: Assigned shift rotation as determined by the District. The current schedule is 48/96. Schedules are subject to change based on operational needs, system metrics, and District requirements. Position is PRN/Per Diem and is scheduled as-needed.
Training: Every Paramedic completes a structured Field Training and Evaluation Program before responding independently. This process is designed to support provider success, patient safety, consistent standards, and confidence in the field.
Why Work Here?
What uniquely draws clinicians and EMS professionals to this specific district includes:
Pioneering "Beyond the Ambulance" Medicine: Unlike traditional services that only run lights-and-sirens to an ER, UPRHSD gives paramedics and EMTs the platform to practice true Mobile Integrated Healthcare through their dedicated Community Paramedic program. Providers handle everything from complex mental health interventions to in-home preventative treatments for residents who don't need the emergency room.
True Clinical Autonomy in High-Stakes Environments: Operating across a sprawling mountain district means providers regularly manage high-acuity trauma and multi-county corridor responses where critical thinking and advanced field autonomy are genuinely utilized, rather than just following rigid city-transit protocols.
Special District Support & Stability: Because it is an independent tax-funded special district rather than a private, for-profit transfer service, it provides local government-backed stability while offering tailored perks like fully funded healthcare packages and targeted wellness stipends meant to counter operational burn-out.
