Medical Assistant Certified

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) provides essential clinical and administrative support in an urgent care clinic setting. The role involves obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, administering injections, collecting specimens, performing laboratory tests, and managing office duties. This position requires certification as an MA-C, prior outpatient clinic experience, and strong skills in patient care and clinical procedures. Reliable transportation and weekend availability are mandatory.

Responsibilities:

Obtain vital signs including height, weight, pulse oximetry, vision testing, and 12 lead EKG/ECG.
Record patient history, medications, and allergies accurately.
Prepare and assist with clinical procedures such as nebulizer treatments and ear lavage.
Administer immunizations and intramuscular injections.
Collect and label specimens including throat swabs, urine samples (UA/clean catch), and perform laboratory tests like blood glucose, pregnancy, strep, and urine dipstick/urinalysis.
Stock and maintain clinical supplies and equipment.
Room patients and assist with patient flow and charting using EPIC system.
Perform office duties to support efficient clinic operations.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) credential is required; MA-R, MA-P, or MA-HT not accepted.
Minimum 6 months experience as an MA-C in an adult/pediatric outpatient clinic setting.
Proficiency in obtaining vital signs and performing EKG/ECG.
Experience with specimen collection and laboratory testing.
Ability to administer medications and injections.
Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system.
Reliable personal transportation (public transportation not acceptable).
Ability to work weekends, specifically every Saturday.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Previous travel experience as a Medical Assistant-Certified.
Experience in urgent care or similar fast-paced clinical environments.

Special Considerations:

Candidate must have reliable transportation; public transit is not acceptable.
Weekend work is required every Saturday; Sundays off.
No on-call duties required.
Work location remains consistent with no floating between units.
Opportunity for permanent placement at the clinic contingent on performance and willingness.

Scheduling:

Monday and Thursday: 7:45 AM to 8:15 PM (12-hour shifts).
Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (8.5-hour shift).
Saturday: 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM (8.5-hour shift).
Days off: Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
