HLA Laboratory Scientist/UKHC – Laboratory Services, Lexington, KY Grade 10, $23.25–39.10/hour, Full‑Time Job Summary The HLA Laboratory Scientist/UKHC performs laboratory testing and data analysis in a fast‑paced academic medical center. The role focuses on high‑complexity tests within the Immuno‑Molecular Pathology Laboratory, serving hematology/oncology divisions and providing referral services to external institutions. Responsibilities Perform and interpret complex laboratory tests, ensuring high accuracy and compliance with CAP and ASHI standards. Analyze and report results for the Immuno‑Molecular Pathology Laboratory, including hematology, immunology, and blood banking procedures. Use state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation and technology provided by the Laboratory. Maintain meticulous records and documentation in accordance with laboratory policies. Collaborate with clinicians, transplant teams, and other departments to support patient care and research. Physical Requirements Remain stationary up to 50% of the time and frequently view data on PC monitor(s). Lift objects up to 25 lbs as needed. Shift and Schedule 24‑hour operations, 5 days a week. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift options available. Rotating weekend on‑call duties required. Required Education and Credentials Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. No additional license or registration required. Academic transcript must be submitted with the application. Required Experience and Skills Experience handling patient specimens and performing complex testing. Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work independently. Customer‑service orientation, troubleshooting, and attention to detail. Proficient computer skills and data entry. Preferred Education and Experience Three or more years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Knowledge of hematology, immunology, and/or blood banking, including cryopreservation practices.
