We are looking for a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to support the manufacturing of precision components for the aerospace industry and other high-specification applications. This role is ideal for a machinist who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment, takes pride in producing high-quality parts, and has experience with machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and quality verification.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining tight tolerances, ensuring production efficiency, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives throughout the shop.

What You'll Do

• Set up and operate CNC turning equipment to manufacture precision-machined parts according to engineering specifications.

• Adjust machine offsets, tooling, and cutting parameters to ensure optimal performance and dimensional accuracy.

• Run and oversee multiple machining centers while maintaining production schedules and quality expectations.

• Work with CNC lathes, including Okuma and similar turning platforms.

• Utilize manual mills and lathes for secondary operations, repairs, and specialty projects.

• Interpret blueprints, manufacturing plans, engineering drawings, and work instructions.

• Review CNC programs and make program modifications or adjustments as required.

• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measurement instruments.

• Verify dimensions and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and related metrology equipment.

• Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and machining issues to minimize downtime and scrap.

• Communicate quality concerns, equipment issues, and production challenges to supervisors and support teams.

• Document production data, inspection results, and job-related records accurately.

• Follow established safety procedures and maintain an organized work environment.

• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing personnel to achieve production and delivery goals.

• Support continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, throughput, and quality enhancements.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.

• Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.

• Familiarity with CNC programming concepts, including G-code and M-code fundamentals.

• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.

• Knowledge of Siemens control systems or similar CNC controls.

• Ability to manage multiple machines and prioritize work effectively.

• Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Multiple years of machining experience in aerospace, medical device, defense, or other precision-manufacturing industries.

• Background operating both CNC and conventional machining equipment.

• Experience with Swiss-type lathes or Swiss turning centers.

• Working knowledge of Fanuc-controlled machines.

• Experience producing tight-tolerance components in a high-volume or job-shop setting.

• Flexibility to support varying shift schedules as business demands require.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tukwila, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $35.00/hr.
