Collections Specialist

Hawkins, Inc. is a formulator, manufacturer, blender, distributor, and sales agent for thousands of industrial chemicals and reagent grade laboratory chemicals sold to municipalities and businesses throughout the Central United States. Thousands across a variety of industries have depended on Hawkins for the chemical products they need since 1938. Analyze and assess the creditworthiness of customers using external credit risk management reports to determine appropriate credit limits, research account disputes and bill discrepancies, perform customer account reconciliation, respond to credit inquiries from external and internal customers, and identify delinquent accounts requiring external collection efforts. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Credit Review and Analysis Perform financial research to determine lines of credit Analyze customers who exceed authorization limit and make limit recommendations Review and release credit holds Collections/Accounts Receivable Perform collection activities Work with customers and sales agents on reconciling and resolving outstanding balances Make recommendations for doubtful accounts, debt write-offs and 3rd party collections Resolve billing discrepancies and initiate invoice corrections Reporting Review, update, and maintain reporting Customer Record Maintenance New customer and ship to setup Customer Service Maintain strong working relationships with customers and internal departments Respond to customers in a timely and professional manner Complete customer vendor forms for manager approval Process Refinement Work with Business Analyst on JD Edwards system updates, improvements, and error resolutions Review and recommend process improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness Follow SOX procedures and controls, as well as corporate accounting procedures. ABOUT YOU: 1+ years credit and collections experience preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent oral and written communication skills Organized and detail orientated Ability to multitask and work well while meeting deadlines JD Edwards software experience preferred Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook experience Attention to detail and follow through on all action items Must be able to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional environment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
