Planner II - Resilience Planner

The resilience planner will support local governments in the Central Pines region to build capacity for long-term resilience and climate adaptation against environmental, social, and economic shocks. Description of Work: This role will include working with CPRC member governments to plan, coordinate, and implement projects that advance community resilience, hazard mitigation, and climate adaptation. The position will also be tasked with supporting community and economic-related planning and technical assistance initiatives, in addition to being an instrumental member of CPRC’s grant writing and grant administrative team. The selected candidate will have a strong desire to increase CPRC’s resilience portfolio, in cohesion with land use, community and economic development, among other disciplines. Activities include: Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and build relationships with local and state government staff, elected officials, community-based partners, environmental groups, and other regional planning agencies. Regional Coordination: Build regional capacity to advance resilience initiatives (projects, plans, policies, regulations). This will include actions that integrate resilience and climate adaptation practices into other disciplines (economic development, housing, land use, etc.). Education : Improve access to resilience knowledge, which may include education on the importance of regional resilience planning and implementation, and researching and advising on community resilience planning best practices, standards, and guidance. Having knowledge of land use planning, floodplain management, and pertinent federal, state, and local regulations will be helpful. The candidate will need to develop understanding of and communicate concepts related to natural infrastructure and nature-based solutions as part of holistic climate and flood resilience strategies for communities. Strategic Planning and Grant Writing: Work with local governments and community-based partners to develop strategic projects that address community development and resilience-based projects. Identify, secure, and manage federal/state/philanthropic funding opportunities to implement priority projects. Data Collection and Analysis : Provide spatial analysis with the ability to interpret and manipulate geographic data to identify patterns, relationships, and trends in land use, zoning, housing, transportation, and environmental factors. T his position will require consistent travel throughout the region to attend meetings and perform work in communities throughout the CPRC region.
