About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience required License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - 2 years' experience in medical/surgical nursing - Ability to float within the facility as needed - Experience with telemetry and emergency response skills - Proficiency in pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care - Skill in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and medication administration - Ability to manage respiratory care including non-invasive airway management Description: Position available for a Medical Surgical RN with a focus on Urology/Nephrology. Day shift will be from 06:45 to 19:15. Average daily census is approximately 23 patients in a 25-bed unit. The candidate must have a solid foundation in nursing, with a minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time travelers are welcome, provided they meet the experience requirements. The nurse will be expected to work every other weekend. BLS certification and an active RN license are required for consideration. Floating to other medical/surgical units may be required based on facility needs. Accommodations for block scheduling may be considered but are not guaranteed. Local candidates are accepted. Candidates with pending licenses will not be considered. Time off requests should ideally not exceed 5 days. To adhere to unit demands, the clinician may be required to assist with a variety of diagnoses including UTI, pneumonia, and cellulitis. Experience with telemetry and rapid response teams is essential. The nurse will manage complex cases related to urology and nephrology, including kidney transplants and bladder procedures. A strong focus on infection control, wound care, and patient safety is necessary. Experience with Cerner charting is mandatory. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. The unit is busy, often admitting and discharging numerous patients each day, and may require the nurse to manage up to 7 patients on rare occasions. The role entails the use of various medical equipment including IV lines, urinary catheters, and drainage systems. Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic medical/surgical setting.
