Are you an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant looking for a high-impact locum tenens role? A leading health system in Mason City is seeking a dedicated PA-C to provide vital coverage for their CT surgery program. This position is ideal for a provider with strong endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) skills who enjoys a blend of clinic, hospital, and call responsibilities.

Join a connected system of healthcare facilities dedicated to clinical excellence and community wellness. You will be an integral part of a surgical team managing approximately 125 CABG cases per year.

• Clinical Scope: Perform a full range of CT surgery duties, including clinic visits and night call. Mastery of Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) is a mandatory requirement for this role.

• Facility Environment: Practice in a Level 2 Trauma facility within a modern health plaza that brings together advanced-trained specialists in cardiology and surgery.

• Schedule: Immediate coverage needed for June 7th (8 a.m.) through June 14th (8 a.m.) , with ongoing availability preferred.

  • Weekdays: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM clinic + weeknight call.

  • Weekends/Specific Dates: 24-hour on-call coverage.

• Call Details: Manageable 1:2 call ratio within a program where emergent cases are infrequent.

• Outdoor Activities: Enjoy easy access to Clear Lake for boating and fishing, or explore the numerous parks and limestone multi-use trails that weave through the city.

• Hourly Rate: Competitive pay starting at $175 per hour.

• Overtime/Call-Back: Up to $265.00 per hour.

• Travel Support: Comprehensive reimbursement including airfare (up to $750), lodging (up to 1.5x GSA rate), and rental car ($55/day cap). Mileage for personal vehicles is reimbursed at the IRS standard rate.

To maintain the high standards of this Level 2 Trauma center, candidates must meet the following:

• Certification: Must be a Board-Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C).

• Experience: A minimum of two years of Cardiothoracic Surgery experience , including proficiency in EVH, is required.

• Licensure: Active Iowa State Medical License is required.

• Certifications: Active ACLS and BLS are required.

• Background: A clean malpractice and background history is required for consideration.

• Documentation: A current Self-Query NPDB report (pulled within the last 30 days) is required at the time of presentation.
