Make a lasting impact by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an educational setting. This contract position empowers you to utilize your expertise and help learners thrive academically and personally. Your role involves working collaboratively with K-12 students, school staff, and families to ensure every child receives an equitable, supportive learning environment.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (state-specific credentials required)
- Proficiency in sign language and alternative communication methods
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt strategies for diverse student needs and learning styles
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a school setting preferred
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction, support, and advocacy for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Develop individualized lesson plans and assist in creating accessible classroom materials
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure inclusive participation
- Engage with parents/guardians through regular communication and progress updates
- Monitor student progress, conduct assessments, and make data-driven recommendations for supports or modifications
- Attend IEP meetings and professional development as required
