Engineering Test Technician

Recognized as experts in our industry for over 75 years, we are a fully integrated manufacturing company which takes responsibility for the success of our business and acts quickly to implement new ideas and projects to ensure company growth.We are looking for a Test Technician to build, test, diagnose and repair test equipment used in the production and testing of electromechanical actuators and components. In this role you will, perform qualification testing (vibration, thermal, functional, etc.), product acceptance testing and validation testing to support production requirements and New Product Introduction.In this role, you would typically:Performs qualification tests per approved procedures and prepares the required documentationTroubleshoots and repairs functional test systems or equipment in support of production and qualification testingPerforms acceptance testing of product and troubleshoots product as necessary to meet acceptance criteria.Assembles and wires new test rigs in accordance with instructions, diagrams and/or schematicsPerforms validation testing of newly introduced test equipmentPerforms vibration and environmental stress screening (ESS) testing on production unitsMonitors all measurements during testing for accuracy and repeatability and determines if values are within expected rangesPrepares technical reports summarizing findings and recommends solutions to technical problemsPerforms calibration of custom test systems and components and coordinates activity of outside calibration servicesParticipates in 5S and Lean activitiesMaintains a high level of customer satisfaction with both internal and external customersPerforms other duties as may be assignedWe require:Associate's degree in engineering or electronics discipline (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 additional years of technical experience in manufacturing environment)Two years' technical experienceAuthorization to work in the USEligibility Requirements:This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.We would really like to see:Experience operating and troubleshooting test equipment in a manufacturing environmentGood soldering skills and the ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawingsMust have a proven ability to operate general electronic test equipment such as digital multi-meters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, waveform generators, signal analyzers and programmable power supplies.Technical writing skills and ability to generate reportsAbility to troubleshoot down to the component levelKnowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing equipment aFamiliarity with environmental chambers and vibration generatorsGood communication and computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office products, ORCAD Schematic CaptureMust be a self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a teamBenefits and Compensation:The pay rate for this position at commencement of employment is $40.00 – 45.00 per hour.
