Job Title: Material Handler Job Description
The Material Handler works across multiple warehouse operations, including inbound receiving, outbound shipping, order picking, and inventory handling. This role focuses on safely unloading and loading trucks, accurately counting and inspecting products, moving materials to designated locations, and preparing orders for shipment using pallet jacks or forklifts. The position also involves labeling materials, palletizing picked products, and maintaining a clean and organized work area in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Responsibilities

• Unload incoming trucks and trailers, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently.
• Count incoming products accurately and inspect shipments for damage or discrepancies.
• Record shipment details, noting whether deliveries are complete and documenting any errors.
• Move materials to proper storage locations within the warehouse using pallet jacks or forklifts.
• Prepare outbound orders for shipping by gathering materials, verifying product numbers, and organizing items for dispatch.
• Use pallet jacks or forklifts to move materials onto loading platforms and assist with loading trucks.
• Label materials clearly and accurately to support inventory control and efficient order processing.
• Pick orders throughout the day by matching product numbers with the correct items and quantities.
• Palletize products as they are picked, ensuring loads are stable, secure, and ready for transport.
• Transport completed pallets to the designated shipping area for outbound processing.
• Perform general housekeeping duties to keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while meeting productivity and quality expectations.

Essential Skills

• Material handling experience in a warehouse environment.
• Order picking experience, including matching product numbers and quantities accurately.
• Experience operating a forklift or pallet jack for moving and staging materials.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs safely and repeatedly as required by warehouse operations.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a warehouse environment.
• Experience with RF scanners for picking, packing, and inventory tasks.
• Ability to perform loading and packing tasks with care and accuracy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating floor jacks or pallet jacks in a warehouse setting.
• Comfort working on second or third shift schedules as part of a team-based operation.
• Strong awareness of safety practices when using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
• Reliable work habits, including punctuality and consistent performance.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse environment that involves frequent physical activity, including lifting up to 75 lbs and moving materials throughout the facility. You use equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and RF scanners to support inbound, outbound, picking, and packing operations. Available shifts include a second shift from Monday to Thursday, 3:45 p.m. to 2:15 a.m., and a third shift from Friday to Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The facility operates at a fast pace and requires attention to safety, organization, and housekeeping to maintain a clean and efficient workspace.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Devens, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
